Visiting Home

I just got back from visiting home back in the States. I haven’t been home in over a year, so that resulted in an odd but nostalgic feeling. I was able to witness a very good friend of mine marry a wonderful woman, as well as my cousin (who is like a brother to me) do the same. Although I was there for two weeks I wasn’t able to do everything I wanted to do. I couldn’t see everyone I wanted to see. I was pulled in different directions all the time. I didn’t get hardly any sleep. Despite all that, I still enjoyed being home a lot. Lots of change is happening in my family and I’m sure it’s all for the better. I like being an uncle and seeing my niece and nephew grow up. I wish I could be in their lives more, but unfortunately I’m too far away to make any big difference. I guess for now I can only bribe them with toys and candy so they won’t forget me, as well as the occasional Skype conversation (which is hard to do considering their attention spans are slim to none).

An another note, my iPhone was mysteriously updated at home. I thought it would brick it, but it still works. When I got back to China, I popped in the SIM card and I couldn’t use the phone! The update un-unlocked my phone, so now I have a iPod touch that used to be an iPhone and I have to also carry around a fake Sony Ericsson phone, which in big letters on the phone says “Scny Eriosson”. I guess they think “c”s and “o”s look the same here.
