Tokyo is famous for having many themed restaurants. We thought going to one of these was an appropriate choice for dinner. We made reservations for Ninja Akasaka. You guess what the theme is. It wasn’t the easiest restaurant to find, since the entrance is pretty nondescript.

But once we found it, the show began. The hostess summons your ninja waiter and he appears instantly. He then takes you through a clever labyrinth with tricks and gimmicks along the way as you go to your table. The whole atmosphere was dark and foggy, and the tables were all different and multi-layered. It gave it a real mysterious feel. For drinks, mom got red wine and I got an Asahi beer with Shochu (a distilled liquor similar to sake, but higher alcohol content) on the side. The first course was Shuriken crackers with foie gras.

Next, I got the barracuda soup.

After that, sushi.

And the best part of the meal, dessert. A cheesecake frog with bansai tree ice cream.

Ninja Akasaka was a great restaurant. And my Aunt Robin gifted us the dinner, so thanks a lot Aunt Robin! Wish you could have been with us.
